Luke's vocabulary did not get off to a great start (especially after he told the ped doc "shit"). Now, I'm really stressing words for him to repeat. We have been working on the word "good". He's still a little rusty, but we're working on it. What you can't see in the video are the vanilla wafers I was bribbing him with. He got about 7 out of me before he decided to say "good".

Climber Luke
Luke has been really attempting the idea of climbing up things, but never really got up the nerve to do it. Well, today that changed. He decided he was going to climb up and sit on the landing in front of the fire place. He was so proud of himself that he kept climbing up and getting down. I clapped for him which is probably a mistake because now that is one more thing I'm going to have to try and kid proof so he doesn't get hurt.

Luke's New Talent of Opening Doors
Luke has now figured out how to open the doors in the house. Thank goodness the main doors are the round doorknobs so he can't get them open yet, but no other door is safe now. He's also fascinated with the refrigerator. Anytime it opens he runs to it. Then he plays with whatever he can find, and finally when he's tired he sits in it. I know I'm not going to like the electric bill coming up or the grocery bill (after replacing all the spoiled food). I tried to get the pic of him sitting in the fridge, but he kept getting up.

1 Year Stats
Luke had his 1 year visit to the doc today, and let me tell you it was interesting. First, we made a 3:00 appointment (why I did that in the middle of his nap time I don't know). Next, we had to wait in the waiting room for 1 hour before we got in (needless to say after my verbal chewing out of the receptionist, ped doc, and some random retarded lady in the waiting room that just had to open her mouth we may need to find a new doc). As I was telling the receptionist how ridiculous it was to make a 1 year old wait an hour, another lady waiting with her 18 year daughter decided to chime in. She looked at me and said "You know kindness is contagious". Instead of ripping her head off, I just looked at her and said "So is herpes, but I don't won't that either, and next time mind your own f-ing business". Sorry mom. I couldn't help it. We finally got in to see the doc. He was very apologetic. But in the end everything was fine for Luke (well not the shots). Ability wise he was meeting all the criteria for a 1 year old. He decided to say shit in front of the doc (I'm hoping it was just jiberish, but that's what it sounded like. (Trish I think Carson taught him that.) His 1 year stats looked like this:
Height = 31 in. ( 80th percentile)
Weight = 24 lbs ( 75th percentile)
Head circumference = 18.9 in ( 90th percentile)

Summertime Fun
Luke finally got to enjoy his sprinkling water mat that his Grandma Toosley found for him. We already know how much he loves his Grandma Linda's pool, so we thought we would try this out too (and it's much cheaper than putting in a pool). Today was a little hot out so we didn't stay long, and the hose water was getting a little cold. It didn't stop Luke though. He couldn't figure out where all the water was coming from. He would no sooner plug up one hole when water would fountain out of another hole. It was fun to watch. Otis even enjoyed it. It was like his own drinking fountain. Sorry I went a little overboard on the coloring of the letters. I was waiting for the pictures to load.

Birthday cake and the Cozy Coupe
He was amazed by the fire on the candle here!
Luke really enjoyed his 1st birthday cake. He didn't eat it all, but he did tear into it and make a great mess. It was fun to watch him. His grandparents must think alike because they both got him a Cozy Coupe car for his birhtday. I have to say he LOVES it. Everyday we go for rides (indoors and out).
